Dare to dream...

Can it be? Are we actually going to take a vacation? We have plans to go to the beach for a long weekend for Mother's Day. I won't believe it until we are heading down the road. We need to get away so desperately.

The past 3 weeks have been such an ordeal. We have had some major family issues that finally came to a blow last weekend. We are mentally worn out. Tim has been working so hard at work and at school he can barely think straight. We need some family time to re-connect.

Oops, did I do thaaaat????

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted. I've been waiting/hoping for the past week that Tim could de-virus my pc. On the nights he's actually been home at a decent time, he's run scan after scan attemtpting to vanquish the virus I caught...to no avail. As soon as one is quarantined and deleted, another pops up. It's been a few days since he's been able to try again. Like dad said, "The cobbler's children...". At least I've been able to do a few things on the laptop. I managed to email myself a few things I needed to work on and thank goodness I can access my email on the web. I'm actually getting used to the laptop. Kind of likin' it. I'd like it even more if it was one of those cute colors like green or pink. I digress.

So, are you wondering how I got the virus. That's the worst part. I feel so silly saying it. Last Wednesday I got my hair cut, so on Monday and Tuesday I was surfin' for hair styles. Something got me on one of those websites. The good news is, I really like my hair :)

Baby Greene

I meant to ask Tim if he had heard anything more about Baby Greene. I'd like to know a name or even if it's a boy or girl. I did some quick research on cancer in infants. 50% of cancer in babies this young is Neuroblastoma. It sounds like this is possibly highly curable in babies despite the aggressive presentaion. And sometimes the tumors even spontaneously disappear. What a miracle that would be. Without sounding patronizing, if your baby has to be diagnosed with cancer this might be the one with the best outcomes. I am praying that since the Greene family has to be in this situation, that their baby has the form of cancer that has very high cure rates in these tiniest of patients. I pray that they find the best doctors and that their child responds to all the treatments and is quickly healed.

Mystery Money

The mystery of the money has been solved. Abbie brought home an award certificate from the art show. Her teacher told her the certificate was supposed to have been in the envelope, not a blank sheet of paper.

Abbie had her Outstanding student ceremony on Thursday. One student per grade is drawn at random to come to a pizza party with the principal. She got it!! She had the best week!!!

The Greene Family

Wesley Greene is a student in Tim's MBA class. We don't know him very well or know his family at all. They have been given devastaing news about their 6 month old baby. The baby had exploratory surgery and was found to have stage 4 cancer with tumors in the liver, spinal cord, bones and a mass behind the lungs. The doctors delivered chemotherapy directly through the heart and are going to see if a stem cell transplant is an option.

Please add this family to your prayers. Pray for these parents to have faith in God's plan. Pray for this tiny angel to be free from pain and fear.

Matisse Artiste

Which is the real masterpiece by Henri Matisse???

Well I guess Abbie holding her blue ribbon probably gave it away :)

I am so happy for her. I love the picture too. Honey, in case you are reading my blog in your spare time (ha-ha) I would like this framed for my office for Mother's Day.

p.s. -she might have won $25 for her first place showing. Today she had an unmarked envelope (other than her name) in her folder containing a mysterious blank sheet of paper folded around $25.00, probably unmarked bills. I will have to investigate....

Grateful Friday

I have been wanting to keep up with Grateful Friday posts but it's usually Saturday by the time I remember that Friday is over. I read an email this morning and it was absolutely just what I needed for Grateful Friday:

I AM THANKFUL:

  • FOR THE WIFE WHO SAYS its HOT DOGS TONIGHT, BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME, AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
  • FOR THE HUSBAND WHO IS ON THE SOFA BEING A COUCH POTATO (or downstairs working/studying),BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.
  • FOR THE TEENAGER (or 71/2 year old) WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME, NOT ON THE STREETS.
  • FOR THE TAXES I PAY BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM EMPLOYED .
  • FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.
  • FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.
  • FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE
  • FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING, WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING, AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME
  • FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT BECAUSE IT MEANS
    WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH..
  • FOR THE PARKING SPOT I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING AND I HAVE BEEN B LESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION .
  • FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM WARM.
  • FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH WHO SINGS OFF KEY BECAUSE IT MEANS I CAN HEAR.
  • FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.
  • FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.
  • FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.
  • AND FINALLY, FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL BECAUSE ? IT MEANS I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARE THINKING OF ME.

I am going to be much more aware of the things I find myself complaining about and try to remember to show thanks for the little things. God has truly blessed our family and I have nothing to complain about.
